Many shoppers tend to prefer a certain brand over another. Some people won’t even consider trying a different brand because they are concerned with the quality or the taste. I was one of these shoppers before I started couponing. Did you know that if you are willing to try another product brand you could be saving big money?
My family and I have learned to give up ‘brand loyalty’ in an effort to conserve spending, but I do not want to sacrifice taste or quality. So, if an item is free or cheap with a coupon I will give it a try and I was surprised to find out that we actually liked a variety of products from different manufacturers!
Another way to look at it is some things we actually ARE brand loyal to actually helps me tremendously in my couponing. When I first started couponing, I was clipping everything and comparing prices for everything- it took up a lot of time and in the end I probably spent more by buying items that were a deal, only to find out we didn’t like that brand. Now I keep my eyes open for coupons for products I know we like and hang onto them until I see a sale for said product, and then I stock up so we are set until the next sale rolls around. In fact, couponing has made it so that we can actually buy the items I like and my family uses!
So what is your view on brand loyalty? Do you try different brands if you can get it free or cheap with a coupon or do you stick to the brands you like and try to find coupons for those brands? Give me your thoughts!

When I first started couponing my husband wanted to know what deoderant I was going to buy for him before I bought it. A couple days later he told me he’d try anything. I think the idea of getting something free or close to it changed his mind. The only thing I really didn’t like and couldn’t finish was the Kinkoman Soy Sauce. I just couldn’t do it.
With non food items, we are not brand picky. We will use mostly any toothpaste, razors, soap, etc. However with food, my husband is a very picky eater and tends to want to stick with the things he knows he likes. Luckily I get coupons for a lot of what he likes!
